Juries of Cannes Young Lions Film
One of the main characteristics of the competition is that the briefings that are given to the participants always have a social character. Growthland chose to work with Luzón Foundation, which seeks to improve the quality of life of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)patients and their families.
The finalists’ event was conducted at NTT Disruption’s office in Madrid. The jury, comprised of some of the most relevant minds of the Spanish marketing and advertising industry, chose the winning couple amongst more than 45 registered groups. The winning creative team will represent Spain in the international competition.
The juries included: Elena Alti, Head of Digital Marketing at Santander; Marga Castaño, Head of Creativity at Growthland; Beatriz Faustino, CMO at Burger King Spain and Portugal; Alfonso-García-Valenzuela, Chief Innovation Officer at IPG Mediabrands; Fernando Lázaro, CMO at NTT Disruption & Head of Growthland; Isabel Ontoso, Director of Branding & Creativity at El Corte Inglés Group; Alex Pallete, Founder & Chief Strategy Officer at PICNIC; Kika Samblás, Founding Partner & Managing Director at SCOPEN and Toni Segarra, Founder & Creative Director at Alegre Roca.
During the event at DreamLab -NTT Disruption’s immersive and open space office in Madrid-, we had the opportunity to interview some of them. Check out their insightful thoughts about the future of this fascinating industry:
Elena Alti, Head of Digital Marketing at Santander
“Creativity is one of the most important factors when undertaking any transformational process”, says Elena Alti. Experienced in advertising, she has worked both in agencies and businesses: BBDO, Ammirati Puris Lintas managing Land Rover, Mini, and pwc. She landed in McCann Erickson as Account Director. In 2005 she was appointed Marketing Director at NH Hotels. She was Director of Client Services for Vodafone. Today, she is Head of Digital Marketing at Santander since 2012.
Marga Castaño, Head of Creativity at Growthland
“We need to apply creativity in everything we do, not just in advertising”, says Marga Castaño. She is one of the top Art Directors in Spain. Founder and CD of Aperitif, Marga worked for 15 years at Wysiwyg / Razorfish as art director, creative director, and executive creative director. 15 years leading the creativity for brands. Along with her business partner Nacho Álvarez-Borrás, she set the creative path of Apéritif. Widely awarded in El Sol Festival of Creativity, El Sol, New York Festival, One Show, and Cannes Lions.
Beatriz Faustino, CMO at Burger King Spain & Portugal
“We count on great advertisers who dare to run inspiring campaigns recognized globally”, says Beatriz Fasutino. Widely experienced in marketing, she was Digital Media Director at McDonald’s Spain for 12 years. She also worked in different companies like Swatch, Burger King, Sodexo Pass Spain, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, and Imaginarium. She was awarded 1st prize of Innovation at the X National Marketing Awards 2018 and holds two awards in Loyalty Marketing and Digital Communication by the IMC European Awards.
Alfonso García-Valenzuela, Chief Innovation Officer at IPG Mediabrands
“We are redefining how the creative world is comprised”, says Alfonso García-Valenzuela. With more than 15 years of experience in communication, after working for agencies such as McCann, BBDO, and Havas, Alfonso is Chief Innovation Officer at IPG MediaBrands and its different business branches. From his origins in communication, Alfonso has been characterized by his capacity to introduce brands into new realms.
Aitor Goyenechea, Creative Director Content Hub Telefónica
“LoremIpsumLoremIpsum” says Aitor. He has been Head of Strategic Partnerships & Comms at Wayra, the startup accelerator of Telefonica. In 2014 he joined as Director of Internal Comms within the Comms and Institutional Marketing Arena. He moved in 2017 as Director of Corporate Communications, online, social media and internal communications. Today Aitor is Director of the Creative Content Hub at Telefónica.
Fernando Lázaro, CMO for at NTT Disruption &, Head of Growthland
“Talent is at the core of everything we do at Growthland. Technology also plays a pivotal role. We look for the integration of both factors”, says Fernando Lázaro, Head of Growthland and CMO for NTT Disruption. That’s the meaning behind Growthland’s SSC and 4DBX. Director of the IAB Inspirational Festival, founder of BTOB, and co-founder of The Hub of Brands, he has vast experience in creating ideas and experiences that transform brand communications and result in business growth. With an entrepreneurship mindset, he has obtained more than 60 advertising awards internationally.
Isabel Ontoso, Director of Branding & Creativity at El Corte Inglés Group
“Spain is a strong global creative player”, says Isabel Ontoso. Greatly experienced in advertising, Isabel was the CEO of Leo Burnett Spain between 2009 and 2013. Before that, she was CEO of Publicis. She was also advertising director at Renault between 1987 and 1990. On the advertiser’s side, she has been linked to Telefónica as Executive Vice President of corporate marketing and advertising.
Álex Pallete, Founder & Chief Strategy Officer at PICNIC
Alex started at Lintas as an account executive. He joined Bates WW, first at Delvico Bates Madrid and three years later, at Bates South in Miami, as regional planner for Latin America. In 2002, he joined The Vidal Partnership (TVP), in New York. He founded and led the Brand Planning Department, that was awarded the “Advertising Age’s Multicultural Agency of the year”. Alex was named one of the 30 global leaders of the industry under 30 (Ad Age’s “30 under 30 to watch”). He was Chief Strategy Officer at LOLA and Head of Planning for JWT’s Global Task Force.
Kika Samblás, Founding Partner & Managing Director at SCOPEN
“We are especially ingenious in Spain during challenging times”, says Kika Samblás. With a Law degree and experience in the financial sector, Kika has spent 20 years dedicated to the world of communication. Speaker at international forums and columnist, Kika is an expert in advertiser and agency consultancy and in different creative transformation projects. She has worked at SCOPEN since 2001 and is both partner and managing director.
Toni Segarra, Founder & Creative Director at Alegre Roca
Known as ‘The master’ of the Spanish creative industry, Toni is the first Spanish creative to join the list of the 100 Top Creative minds of Shots Magazine. He is also one of the 25 most influential persons in Spain according to Forbes. His national and international recognitions are countless: Grand Prize at the Cannes Festival, Golden, Silver, and Bronze Lions, the Grand Prize at the New York Festival, the London Festival, the FIAP Festival, which makes him one of the best Spanish creatives of the 20th century.
